NeuroTraX™: Blood-Brain Barrier-on-a-chip

NeuroTraX™ provides a human Blood-Brain Barrier (BBB) in an easy to use and image format. The BBB is continuous, with direct contact between the vascular and brain cells. This distinguishes NeuroTraX from other models where the cells are physically separated by membranes or posts, limiting physiologically relevant cell-to-cell interaction. NeuroTraX allows the formation of the Neuro-Vascular Unit (NVU) - a critical functional unit of the brain.

Rapidly investigate questions about

  • Drug Transport: Can the drug cross the BBB?

  • Neurological Effects: How does the drug affect the brain?

  • Drug Toxicity: Is the drug toxic to the brain or BBB?

  • Drug Efficacy: Does the drug improve neurological disease features?

  • Disease Modeling: What are the mechanisms of disease?

RESPIRE: Bioprinted Lung Tissue

Our newest developments in bioprinting led us to recreate the fundamental units of the complex human lung - the bronchioles, the alveolar air sacs, and the vasculature. We envision our technology to be key in answering unmet needs in various application areas.

Going Beyond Animal Models

RESPIRE™ eliminates the species-mismatch issues of animal testing by providing a physiologically accurate human environment. As a fully human distal lung model, it delivers the specific responses indispensable for research where animal models fail, such as in viral infections.
